Guerrero declares the State Protection Council in permanent session – Grupo Milenio

Given the forecast of a Tropical cyclone on the coast of Acapulcothe governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda activated the preventive contingency protocols and declared in permanent session to the State Civil Protection Council, calling on the population to take extreme precautions and pay attention only to official information and communications.

“We are keeping all surveillance, monitoring and alert protocols active due to the forecast with the probability of cyclonic development on our Guerrero coasts, especially in Acapulco and the Costa Chica,” said Governor Evelyn Salgado during the virtual session with authorities from the three levels of government and the armed forces.

The state leader headed this Sunday the Extraordinary Session of the State Council of Civil Protection, to closely monitor the evolution and trajectory of two meteorological systems in the Pacific Ocean, in order to coordinate the necessary strategies to strengthen preventive work and withmonitor the possible effects due to the heavy rains expected for the next few days.

This Sunday afternoon Tropical Depression Ten-E formed in the southern Mexican Pacific280 kilometers south of Punta Maldonado, Guerrero, presenting maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gusts of 75 kilometers per hour, so its cloudy circulation is expected to generate heavy rains in several regions of Guerrero.

Given the forecast of heavy to intense rains during the course of this week, Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda instructed to reinforce preventive work in the eight regions of the statemainly in coastal municipalities, where Preventive alert protocols have already been activated in coordination with local authorities, in order to reduce risks and safeguard the population.

Also A low pressure zone remains under surveillance off the coasts of Colima, Michoacán and Guerrero, which has a 40 percent probability of cyclonic development in 7 days, reinforcing the forecast of a storm of intense rains over the next few days.

The governor urged the population to take extreme precautions, especially in light of the strong winds and high waves forecast for the Guerrero coast.

The state government is in constant monitoring and in coordination with the Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection of Guerrero to respond immediately to any eventuality. Salgado Pineda also reminded citizens that the emergency number 911 is available to report any incident.

The Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection is carrying out the work to Activate the state’s 626 temporary shelters so that, if necessary, they can provide the attention that citizens require immediately; in the same way It was requested to redouble the monitoring and surveillance work of meteorological systems affecting the national territory, with the aim of issuing the necessary warnings and alerts to the population.

The Secretary of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection, Roberto Arroyo Matus, said that the state government has a strategic reserve in the eight regions of the entity, available to supply the necessary supplies to the 626 temporary shelters and to provide emergency assistance to families who may be affected during this rainy season.
