Harris won’t provide answers on the campaign trail

If that’s all there is, the country is in big trouble.

That is a takeaway from Vice President Kamala Harris and her campaign for president. As president she would be worse than poor Joe Biden.

With all due respect, the lady is an empty pantsuit.

Not that the other guy is a bargain. But agree with him or not, you at least know where Donald Trump stands on the issues—any issue.

Trump has done the job once and would probably be even better at it the second time around.

And he will answer any question reporters throw at him no matter how loaded they are. You may not like the answer, but at least you will get one.

Let’s face it America, like it or not, it’s all we’ve got.

Kamala Harris is different. Her campaign is like a portable version of Joe Biden’s 2020 basement strategy, only worse.

The other guy is constantly out in public at rallies and available to the press almost every day despite two assassination attempts on his life and ongoing threats from Iran to kill him.

Harris has not held a single formal press conference since she was nominated for president. As of this writing she will have gone 92 days without taking questions from reporters in a formal setting.

She may be the first presidential candidate in modern history to go through an election without once holding a press conference.

She is almost like a stealth candidate. And her cheerleaders in the left-wing media seem fine with it, although they would bury Trump if he campaigned the same way.

And the way Harris dodges questions in her scarcely held interviews with friendly interviewers, one would think she was running for mayor of Dodge City, rather than president of United States.

When she finally did an interview Wednesday with a real reporter—Brett  Baier of Fox News– Wednesday,  Harris could not get out fast enough.

It was contentious and vacuous. Getting Harris to respond to a specific question on policy with a specific answer is like pulling teeth without anesthesia.

That is because Harris has no answers, not on illegal immigration or anything else.

She failed in the interview even to answer how many illegal immigrants have crossed the border into the United States during the Biden/Harris administration, but blamed Trump for the problem.

She either does not know, or does know but doesn’t want you to know.

And she was Joe Biden’s point person on illegal immigration.

When Baier questioned her on the issue Harris, instead of answering, began to filibuster.

When Baier pressed for an answer, Harris, searching for a sound bite that would resonate, responded by saying “May I please finish…You have to let me finish” and continued with her trademark platitudes.

You got the feeling that she was about to burst out saying “Hey, I’m talkin’ here, I’m talkin’ here,” in a play on Dustin Hoffman in the movie “Midnight Cowboy.”

It would have made a great sound bite and television ad.

Harris still has a problem with what to do about Joe Biden. One day she says she wants “to turn the page,” and he next day she says she supports everything Joe Biden did and that she was a partner in doing.

While Baier was itching to ask her—among other things–if this still included the botched pullout from Afghanistan that cost the lives of 13 U.S. military personnel at the Kabul Airport which she supported, he never got a chance.

She would not even respond to when she knew Joe Biden, who she previously praised for his vigor, was no longer mentally up to the task of running for re-election. She instead attacked Trump for being unfit to be president.

Outside of smoke and mirrors, Harris does not have much going for her.

And she won’t be talking to Brett Baier again.
