Swindon striker Harry Smith has reflected on his disciplinary record, and admitted it’s ‘not acceptable’.

The forward made his first appearance since the 1-1 draw away at Barrow in September, where he got sent off in the 65th minute and then served a suspension alongside a virus and tonsillitis afterwards.

On his return to the team, he came on as a substitute at the break and scored the equaliser for the Robins against Doncaster in their defeat on Saturday.

After the game, Smith discussed his thoughts on the time he had away whilst he served his ban and the number of bookings he’s received over the last few seasons whilst at Sutton United and now Swindon Town.

“I was really happy [to return to the squad], obviously the suspension was difficult because I made a mistake and I hold my hands up and I let a lot of people down.

“I served what was justified and had a lot of time to think about that and reflect on my disciplinary record over the last year because it’s been not acceptable at my previous club.

“Obviously at the start of the season I’ve had a few too many yellow cards, so I was extremely disappointed and I let people down.

“It’s not nice when you let the squad and the manager down and obviously the fans that have travelled so I had time to reflect.”

After serving a three-match suspension, Smith didn’t feature until the game against Doncaster as he battled an illness which resulted in him losing seven kilograms, but the ex-Millwall man is happy to be back as he will hope to help turn around Swindon’s poor form.

He said: “The illness has made that a little more difficult because it’s been a really tough time not being able to eat and drink and stuff like that.

“I’ve lost a lot of weight but I’m back now and I’m really happy to be back involved with the boys and trying to help.”
