Hundreds of Burgess Hill Town fans gave a minute’s generous applause for the late Roger Puttick at their 3-1 win over Steyning on Saturday.

Puttick, a former goalkeeper in local football, was a former secretary of Hillians and did lots of other work for them.

He died recently at his home in Burgess Hill.

Hillians, who have been drawn against Albion under-21s in the Sussex Transport Senior Cup (date to be confirmed), took the Isthmian League south east spoils with Ollie Davies (2) and Brannon O’Neill on target.

There was also a significant contribution on debut from Chris Whelpdale, the former Peterborough and Eastbourne Borough forward who signed recently after starting the season at Whitehawk.
