One year after Hamas attack on Israel, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris called for peace in the Middle East this Monday and the end of a war that could affect the US elections on November 5.
“I remain fully committed to the security of the Jewish people, the security of Israel and its right to exist,” the US president said in a statement.
October 7 will also be remembered “as a black day for the Palestinian people due to the conflict that Hamas unleashed. “Too many civilians have suffered too much during this year of conflict,” lamented the President.

“I will never forget the horror of October 7, 2023,” Democratic Vice President Harris, a candidate for the White House, said in another statement. And he said he was “heartbroken by the amount of death and destruction in Gaza over the last year.”
Biden participated in a brief ceremony at the White House.
Watch out for the victims
With his eyes closed at times, he listened to the funeral prayer intoned by a rabbi who was a friend of the family of the Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polinn, kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 and whose body was found on September 1.
After a moment of silence, lit a candle in memory of the victims.
Kamala Harris plans to plant a tree to commemorate the first anniversary of the massacre.
His Republican rival, donald trumpwill also participate in ceremonies in New York and Miami.
The Middle East is on the brink of general war and the Biden administration is unable to dictate conduct on offense undertaken a year ago by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in response to the massacre.
Both Biden and Harris believe that a “diplomatic solution” is the “only path” to peace.
Israel remembers Hamas attack:
Meanwhile, Israel carries out bombings in Lebanon to confront the Hezbollah militia, an ally of Hamas, and says it is preparing a response to Iran attack from last Tuesday.
The October 7 attack caused the death of 1,205 peoplemostly civilians, according to a count of AFP based on official Israeli figures, including hostages who died in captivity.
According to the Ministry of Health in Hamas-ruled Gaza, since the beginning of the war there have been 41,909 people diedmostly civilians. The figures have been considered reliable by the UN.
Trump sees real estate potential in Gaza
Donald Trump estimated that the Gaza Strip, bombed a year ago by the Israeli Army, could become a place “better than Monaco” once it is rebuilt if they take advantage of the full potential of their Mediterranean location.
The Conservative Radio Host Hugh Hewitt asked the Republican White House candidate and former real estate developer if Gaza could rival Monaco if it were “rebuilt the right way.”
“It could be better than Monaco. It has the best location in the Middle East, the best water, the best of everything,” Trump responded. The Republican said that when he had “been there” he exclaimed “wow!” Its locals “never took advantage” of its waterfront views, he lamented.

“It could be the most beautiful place. The weather, the water, everything, that climate (…) it could be so beautiful. It could be the best of the Middle East, it could be one of the best places in the world,” he considered.
