Juventus is off to a fascinating start to the new Champions League season.
The Italian giants have only won three of their first six matches in Serie A, but they’ve yet to concede a goal and have held their opponents to a combined 2.2 expected goals (xG).
The Old Lady just recently broke a stretch of three consecutive nil-nil draws in league play.Â
What’s even more fascinating is that Juventus has had a difficult schedule, playing Roma and Napoli and securing three 3-0 victories over Como, Hellas Verona and Genoa.
That’s right, Juventus’ six matches this season have either ended nil-nil or 3-0. Bizarre.
The Old Lady did concede a goal in their Champions League opener against PSV Eindhoven, but they were able to walk over the Dutch side with a 3-1 win.

The main difference, however, is that Juventus’ defensive numbers actually look somewhat sustainable.

While there’s no arguing that they’ve been stout defensively, the Red Bulls have conceded 6.2 expected goals in five matches and should consider themselves a bit fortunate to only have shipped two tallies to this point.Â
