Among a host of economic issues the next president should address, about 70 percent of respondents said the cost of living would be the most important, and only a small part chose the labor markettaxes or “leaving me better off financially.”
Trump had more support than Harris in each of those areas as well, although voters, by a margin of 42 percent to 35 percent, thought the Democratic candidate is the best choice to address the gap between wealthy and middle Americans.

About 53 percent of voters in the survey said they agreed with the statement that “immigrants who are in the country illegally are a danger to public safety,” compared to 41 percent who disagreed.
Voters had been more divided on the issue in a survey of Reuters/Ipsos May, when 45 percent agreed and 46 percent disagreed.

The last poll showed Harris with a two point advantage percentages (47 percent to 45 percent) among voters who seemed most likely to vote in November. About two-thirds of eligible voters went to the polls in the 2020 presidential election, according to an estimate from the Pew Research Center.
The latest survey of Reuters/Ipsos surveyed 1,272 American adults nationwide online, including 1,076 registered voters. Of them, 969 were considered the most likely to go to the polls on election day.
