Major Garda probe underway after teen assaulted in Dublin as cops share warning over footage shared

GARDAI are appealing for witnesses following a “serious” assault in north Dublin over the weekend.

The incident happened at a retail premises on the Swords Road in Santry on Saturday, September 28 at around 7.50pm.

A males in his teens was taken to Beaumont Hospital for medical treatment following the incident.

His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

There have been no arrests made and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating a serious assault which occurred at a retail premises on the Swords Road in Santry, Dublin on Saturday, 28th September 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 7.50pm.

“An adult male (teens) was taken to Beaumont Hospital for medical treatment following the incident. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing.”

They are urging anyone with information on the incident to get in contact with them.

They added: “Anyone with information regarding this assault is asked to contact Ballymun Garda Station on (01) 6664400 the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

They also noted that there are images and videos circulating online of the incident.

They have asked that this footage is not shared.

They said: “An Garda Síochána is aware of videos and images of this incident that are currently in circulation.

“An Garda Síochána is requesting that this footage and imagery are not shared.”

Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses to a horror crash in Roscommon which saw a man in his 70s rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The incident, which saw a jeep and a car colliding on the N4 in Ardcarne, Boyle on Monday, also saw a woman in her 40s injured.

A spokesperson said: “Any road users or pedestrians who were in the area at the time between 1pm and 1.30pm and have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Castlerea Garda Station on (094) 9621630, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station. REF: 22929/2024.”
