‘MasterChef Celebritiy’ and the difficult challenge of ‘cooking’ famous movies

After the expulsion of Cristina Cifuentes and the unexpected abandonment of Rubén Ochandiano (which this week led to a small controversy between the contestant and the program management), MasterChef Celebrity 9 arrives tonight on the small screen with a new installment.

The first test will consist of a double challenge: first, the applicants will have to divide into two teams to replicate two dishes proposed by the judge Jordi Cruz. Recipes that are inspired by the concept of trompe l’oeilthis is, morsels that seem like one thing and, in reality, are another. Thus, what in the case of the first proposal will seem like a anchovyit will be a duck tenderloin; while in the second, the contestants will see a morsel that looks like a sausage that, really, is a vegan sobrasada.

The members of the winning team will have to face each other in a second round to win the coveted immunity pin. Your mission? Cook a free dish with the ingredients chosen by the applicants who do not participate. The judges will blindly taste the preparations of this test, which will include a visit from Miki Nadal and Juanma Castaño, winners of MasterChef Celebrity 6.

TEST OF EXTERIOR: TRIP TO PORTUGAL

For the first time in the history of the program, the outdoor test will take place in the city of Cascais. This holiday destination, popular for its beautiful beaches, hosts once a year the food festival Chefs on Fire (contest in which prestigious chefs meet, where firewood and embers are the star, and which precisely this weekend had its ‘replica’ in Madrid).

Taking advantage of this festival, the team of MasterChef was traveling to Cascais, where the contestants have challenge to cook two menus over live heat for 100 guests. A test that will have the presence of the three members of the jury of MasterChef Portugal: Pedro Pena, Óscar Geadas and Teresa Horta.

Back on set, the ‘black aprons’ will have to face a most cinematic test. Pepe, Jordi and Samantha will invite the actor, director and aspiring MasterChef Celebrity 8 Edu Casanova to talk about the relationship of the Seventh Art with gastronomy.

First, the contestants will have to guess movie titles through mime and, then, they will have to prepare the dish associated with that title. Case, for example, of the sweet proposals of Charlie and the chocolate factory or the mythical spaghetti with meatballs of The Godfather. Whoever does not overcome the challenge will, as always, be forced to hang up their apron and leave the program’s kitchens.
