Migrants ask for greater security from incoming governments – Milenio Group

The migrants of different nationalities who participated in the solemn procession called by the Diocese of Tapachula asked the incoming authorities to mgreater security and expedite the procedures before the Mexican Commission for Aid to Refugees (Comar).

Within the framework of 110 World Day of Migrants and Refugees which began this Sunday, in an interview Evelyn Leonel Villanueva Ramírez, of Honduran nationality, stated that although some organizations have provided them with food and lodging during their stay on the southern border, they arethrown out by organized crime and even some kidnapped.

“That they gave us a little more custody because it is a bit risky to go up with our family, but of course, but then they do what they also have their job afterwards, as well as if it were good that they accelerate the processes in Comar, because here we go for five or six months here and they don’t give us an answer, but we also understand that it’s not just us, there are quite a few of us,” he said.

This peaceful walk in which a hundred foreigners participated aims to demand that the Mexican authorities give them free and safe passage to reach the northern border and thus fulfill the American dream, although for many it is their refuge from the violence they face. in their country of origin.

By being Tapachula the main city in the southern state of the country to receive migrants, Noemi Matilde Zacarías, in charge of Foranía Ciudad of the Human Mobility Dimension of the Diocese, stated that they serve on average a total of 450 migrants daily although they have also become saturated with close to a thousand peopleHowever, they have sought mechanisms to provide care.

“First it is hospitality, where to stay, because sometimes there are families that arrive and have no place to stay, food and many stay for the process of their paperwork in which they are given the exit to continue their journey, those are the moments when they are there at a certain time and those who request it and are given it are already walking to where they are going, at least.”

Among the factors of human mobility that they have detected, he said, are persecutions by criminal groups that operate in their country, kidnappings, extortions, as well as labor deficit and poor remuneration.

The demonstration of faith that seeks to make visible the problems that people in transit face daily when entering the border, was accompanied by banners and flags of some Central American nationalities, which started from the Floral Clock and traveled around 10 streets and reached the church of the San José El Edén neighborhood, where a multicultural mass was held.
