The president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo condemned the military attack against migrants in Huixtla, Chiapas, and assured that the elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) involved were already made available of the federal Public Ministry.
During her morning conference at the National Palace, the President stressed that it must be investigated whether there were also command responsibilities or just the soldiers who shot at the migrants, which left six deadoriginating from Egypt, El Salvador, and Peru.
“It’s a fact regrettable and it has to be investigated and punished. The elements of the Secretariat of National Defense who fired are now placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office.”
​”It is the prosecutor’s office that has to carry out the investigation of how the events occurredresponsibilities, if any additional command responsibility or only of the soldiers who fired (…), then there is the investigation; It is not only the Military police who has to carry out the investigation, but the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic”.
“The elements are already made available, in the same way a situation like this cannot be repeatedmeasures are being taken. I gave instructions to the general secretary so that this happens like this,” he emphasized.
President Sheinbaum Pardo also announced that the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela RodrÃgueztogether with the chancellor Juan Ramon de la Fuentethey are already in contact with embassies from the countries where the victims were from to provide support to the families who died and with everything that is required.
