The president of the Political Coordination Board of the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monrealrequested the confidence of judges, magistrates and ministers in the process to integrate the evaluation committees in charge of selecting the profiles to compete in the election of judges by popular vote on June 1, 2025.
“Trust, judges, that we will do things well, so that you can participate and ensure that citizens are the only ones who determine who will integrate these justice bodies,” he stressed in a message on social networks.
In the face of questions and disqualifications to the reform of the Judiciarythe parliamentary leader of Morena in the Palacio de San Lázaro, also guaranteed honest and responsible action to appoint honorable people as members of the aforementioned committees.
“I can assure judges, magistrates and ministers in office that we will act with honesty and responsibility, and that we will try and ensure that people with prestige and honorability are at the head of these evaluation committees, who do not have partisan ties, nor because of these ties. or profiles dependent on any of the powers distort the reform,” he pointed out.
He maintained that the members of the committees must be honest people to guarantee a correct evaluation and selection for the good of the justice that we need in Mexico.
Monreal explained that the Chamber of Deputies is already in the analysis stage to designate those who will make up the evaluation committees to choose the aspiring judges of the Judicial Power.
He specified that these groups will be made up of five people, three women and two men, with recognized honorability and prestige, but also with the necessary legal capacity to examine and evaluate aspiring ministers, magistrates and judges.
“Obviously, they will be the ones who select those people who have distinguished themselves for their honesty, good reputation, competence, academic background and performance in legal or jurisdictional activity, and they will be the ones who make up the evaluation lists of the people,” he said.
The evaluation committees must be installed no later than October 31 and issue the call on November 4 to begin the registration of applicants a day later.
