Municipal police allegedly sprayed a girl with pepper spray approximately four years old in Morelia, Michoacán.
It was last Monday that a video was spread through various social networks showing a minor crying, screaming in pain and desperately trying to wipe her eyes with her hands.
Meanwhile, a woman who is at the scene claims that it was a police officer who sprayed the minor with pepper spray.
Likewise, two police officers try to clean the girl’s face with water to reduce the effects of the pepper spray.
According to police sources, The girl’s relatives resisted a routine check-up by the officers, who allegedly used the chemical to control the situation.
Given these facts, the State Human Rights Commission of Michoacán (CEDH) initiated an investigation registered with folio CEDH/15102/Q, against elements of that municipal corporation.
The investigation is for violation of physical integrity consisting of abuse of authority and excessive use of public force.
Furthermore, for not guaranteeing the integrity of the minor as a police corporation.
The CEDH held the Municipal Commission of Citizen Security of Morelia responsible for the incident.from which a report of what happened was immediately required.
Because police officers must be trained to act in accordance with national and international protocols in the event of the presence of minors, the agency noted.
