Liam Payne’s ex-fiancée, Maya Henry, claims Zayn Malik was the One Direction member who allegedly “threw” her ex “up a wall” during a backstage fight at a concert years ago.
Taking to TikTok over the weekend, Henry responded to a video from a fan encouraging users on the platform to discuss “who we think threw Liam Payne up a wall.”
“OK, I see this all the time, everywhere,” Henry said in a duet video. “I’ve heard this insufferable story so many times, and he told me it was Zayn, so.”
Reps for Payne and Malik, both 31, did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Henry’s bombshell video quickly went viral on TikTok over the weekend, with many fans sharing their mixed reactions in the comments section.
“maya giving us the tea we’ve been waiting for,” one fan commented, to which Henry replied, “What’s next 🍵.”
“and we all say ‘thank you maya’ in unison,” another person wrote.
“I can’t believe I lived long enough to finally know who threw him up the wall 😭,” someone else shared.
Due to the massive attention the original video received, Henry, 23, doubled down on her claim in a second, nearly nine-minute TikTok that was posted on Sunday.
“OK, I’m going to address some of these comments … I made a five-second TikTok about something [Liam] talked about on a podcast. He was the one airing out everyone’s dirty laundry on a podcast, so it’s OK for him to talk s–t, but the minute I make a five second video, it’s over right?” she argued.
The “Looking Forward” author teased that she’s only just beginning to share some of the secrets from her relationship with Payne, telling fans to “stay tuned” as “there’s a lot more to the story.”
Back in May 2022, Payne initially revealed that he got into a spat with one of his fellow One Direction members while appearing as a guest on Logan Paul’s controversial “Impaulsive” podcast.
“There was one moment where there was an argument backstage and one member in particular threw me up a wall,” he alleged, choosing not to reveal the identity of his bandmate at the time.
“So I said to him, ‘If you don’t remove those hands, there’s a high likelihood you’ll never use them again.’”
The “Strip That Down” singer did not elaborate on what led to the alleged altercation.
Elsewhere in the episode, Payne did mention Malik’s name while talking about how his complicated friendships with several members of the band have evolved over the years.
“There’s many reasons why I dislike Zayn, and there’s many reasons why I’ll always, always be on his side,” he said at the time.
Payne and Malik skyrocketed to fame in 2010 after competing on “The X Factor.” While they originally joined the competition show as solo singers, the two were encouraged to form the boy band One Direction with fellow competitors Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson.
They quickly became one of the most popular boy bands but hit a road bump in 2015 when Malik announced he’d be leaving the band. The group ultimately went on an indefinite hiatus the following year.
