Popular comedian and TV presenter looks unrecognisable in early career throwback – but can you guess who it is?

HE started his career in comedy over 20 years ago and now he’s a regular on TV, but he didn’t always look like the face we see on our screens.

Now a throwback snap from the early days of his career shows the popular comedian and TV host looking like a fresh faced teen.

Comedian Alan Carr is barely recognisable in the nostalgic photograph.

Gone are his trademark glasses and instead the young Alan has dark hair parted in 90s style curtains as he beams for the camera.

The snap comes as Alan is marking over two decades in show business, after first breaking through on the comedy scene in 2001.

After making the move from Northampton up to Manchester he became a regular face at the city’s Comedy Store, before then making the transition to TV.

After appearing alongside Jimmy Carr on 8 Out Of 10 Cats, he then found his own fame as a co-host on The Friday Night Project on Channel 4.

He then hit the big time solo with his own series in 2008 with Alan Carr’s Celebrity Ding Dong.

In 2009 his talk show The Chatty Man turned him into a household name and saw him joined by celebrity guests.

The show ran for 16 series and in 2016 Channel 4 show commissioned a Christmas special.

Since then Alan Carr’s career has continued to grow, seeing him move into renovation in Italy alongside best pal Amanda Holden as well as presenting Interior Design Masters.

ITV bid to poach Amanda Holden

Last year the comic star also penned his autobiography ‘Changing Ends’ detailing his childhood in Northampton in the 1980s. The narrative has also been turned into a successful TV series, which has been confirmed for a second season.

Last month it was confirmed that one of Alan’s hit BBC shows was coming back for a second series.

Game show Picture Slam launched last year on BBC One and its second season launched at the end of September.

It comes amid reports that ITV bosses are looking to poach Alan and co-star Amanda Holden.

They believe the pals can replicate the success of BBC travel series Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job, which recently filmed its third series.

ITV also gave their vote of confidence for the pair as they hired them to host the Royal Variety show in November.
