Potential tropical cyclone Nine forms in the Caribbean Sea – Grupo Milenio

The State Coordination of Civil Protection of Quintana Roo reported through its social networks about the Formation of potential tropical cyclone “Nine” in the northwest Caribbean Sea.

The phenomenon is located 205 km south-southwest of Grand Cayman Island and 605 km east-southeast of Punta Herrero, Quintana RooIts maximum sustained winds reach 45 km/h, with gusts of up to 65 km/h, and it moves north at a speed of 9 km/h.

The extensive circulation of the system will cause heavy rains in the region, with accumulations between 75 and 150 mm, mainly affecting Quintana Roo.

Prevention zone declared for possible cyclone

A was declared prevention zone due to the effects of a possible cyclone from Río Lagartos, Yucatán, to Tulum, Quintana Roo. In addition, a surveillance zone for possible effects of a hurricane is maintained from Cabo Catoche to Tulum.

Tropical storm John

If the cyclone forms in the Caribbean Sea, it would join tropical storm John, which is approaching Mexico as it moves across the Pacific.

Conagua reported this Monday that the storm would make landfall as a Category 2 hurricaneon the coast of Oaxaca, at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24.
