Australian actress Rebel Wilson has countersued the producers of her debut film, ‘The Deb’who originally accused her of defamation, alleging “theft, harassment and sexual misconduct,” The Hollywood Reporter reports.
Wilson was sued in July in a Los Angeles court by Amanda Ghost, Gregor Cameron and Vince Holden after ‘The Hustle’ actress had posted a video on Instagram accusing them of sexual harassment and embezzlement and of blocking the premiere of the film at the closing of the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF).
The producers claimed in the letter that the actress lied in an attempt to release the film that she directed, produced and starred in.and accused her of having intimidated them with the intention of getting them to agree to their unreasonable demands.
In the counterclaim filed on September 26, Wilson alleges that Ghost sexually harassed the film’s protagonist, Charlotte MacInnesand that, among other things, on the set he had been heard making “overtly sexual comments” to the actress.
But in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, MacInnes assured that there was “nothing true” in the statements about the alleged harassment of her: “Making false accusations undermines real victims, and I will not be the subject of a made-up narrative,” he mentioned.
Wilson also accuses the three producers of conspiring to inflate the film’s budget to “divide it among themselves.” and notes that due to constant threats and intimidation tactics, she was forced to hire “personal security on the set of ‘The Deb'” in order to finish filming.
Furthermore, dwrites that Gregor Cameron threatened to terminate the project and fire the workers if he did not sign a document indicating that he was withdrawing the complaint about the allegations of Ghost’s sexual misconduct.
