Sertur commemorates the National Day of the Magical Towns – Milenio Group

The Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) celebrated the National Day of the Magical Townsa date that was established by presidential decree in 2020.

Through a statement he recalled that this was the date on which this appointment was granted for the first time to a town, Huasca de Ocampo, in the state of Hidalgo, who received it in 2001.

The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, sent congratulations to the 177 destinations in the country that have this appointment, which is awarded to places with symbolic, historical attributes and legends, full of transcendent facts and a peculiar charm.

“This appointment preserves the history, traditions and culture of our country, which raises the quality of life of its inhabitants, since we carry out and generate, from that, community tourism in accordance with the humanist policy of the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo,” he declared.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) invited national and international tourists to enjoy the natural wonders of the 177 magical townsthus generating shared prosperity, where the quality of its inhabitants will make you fall in love.


What are the new tourist destinations?

According to the latest update of the Ministry of Tourism, Mexico It already has 177 Magic Towns spread across the 31 states of the country. To the previous 132 Magical Towns, 45 new destinations were added, which are:

  • Aguascalientes: Calvillo, Real de Asientos, San José de Gracia and Pabellón de Hidalgo.
  • Baja California: Tecate.
  • Baja California Sur: Loreto, Todos Santos and Santa Rosalía.
  • Campeche: Palizada, Isla Aguada and Candelaria.
  • Chiapas: San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapa de Corzo, Comitán, Palenque, Copainalá and Ocozocoautla de Espinosa.
  • Chihuahua: Creel, Batopilas, Casas Grandes, Guachochi and Hidalgo del Parral.
  • Coahuila: Arteaga, Candela, Cuatro Ciénegas, Guerrero, Múzquiz, Parras de la Fuente, Viesca and General de Cepeda.
  • Colima: Comala.
  • Durango: Mapimí and Nombre de Dios.
  • State of Mexico: Valle de Bravo, Aculco, El Oro, San Juan Teotihuacán, Villa del Carbón, Tepotzotlán, Ixtapan de la Sal, Metepec, Malinalco, Tonatico, Jilotepec and Otumba.
  • Guanajuato: Comonfort, Dolores Hidalgo, Jalpa de Cánovas, Mineral de Pozos, Salvatierra and Yuriria.
  • Guerrero: Taxco, Ixcateopan de Cuauhtémoc and Zihuatanejo.
  • Hidalgo: Huasca de Ocampo, Huichapan, Mineral del Chico, Real del Monte, Tecozautla, Zempoala, Zimapán, Acaxochitlán and Metztitlán.
  • Jalisco: Ajijic, Lagos de Moreno, Mazamitla, Mascota, San Sebastián del Oeste, Talpa de Allende, Tapalpa, Tequila, Tlaquepaque, Cocula, Sayula and Temacapulín.
  • Michoacán: Pátzcuaro, Tlalpujahua, Cuitzeo, Santa Clara del Cobre, Angangueo, Tacámbaro, Jiquilpan, Tzintzuntzan, Paracho and Cotija.
  • Morelos: Tepoztlán, Tlayacapan, Tlaltizapán de Zapata and Xochitepec.
  • Nayarit: Compostela, Jala, Mexcaltitlán, Sayulita, Ahuacatlán, Amatlán de Cañas, Ixtlán del Río, San Blas and Puerto Balleto.
  • Nuevo León: Bustamante, Santiago, Linares, General Terán and General Zaragoza.
  • Oaxaca: Calpulálpam, Huautla de Jiménez, Juquila, Mazunte, San Pablo Villa de Mitla and San Pedro and San Pablo Teposcolula.
  • Puebla: Cuetzalan, Cholula, Atlixco, Chignahuapan, Zacatlán de las Manzanas, Huauchinango, Pahuatlán, Tlatlauquitepec, Tetela de Ocampo and Xicotepec, Huejotzingo and Teziutlán.

  • Tabasco: Villa Tapijulapa, Frontera and Teapa.
  • Tamaulipas: Mier and Tula.
  • Tlaxcala: Huamantla, Tlaxco and Ixtenco.
  • Veracruz: Orizaba, Coscomatepec, Xico, Coatepec, Papantla, Zozocolco, Córdoba and Naolinco de Victoria.
  • Yucatán: Valladolid, Izamal, Maní, Sisal, Espita, Motul and Tekax.
  • Zacatecas: Jerez, Pinos, Sombrerete, Nochistlán de Mejía, Guadalupe, Teúl de González Ortega and Villa Nueva.
