The Colombian singer Shakira brought forward one day the concert she will give in February of next year in her native Barranquilla so that it does not coincide with La Guacherna, one of the previous events of the carnival of that Caribbean city.
“I want to celebrate La Guacherna with my people, so I have asked the organizers to advance my concert in Barranquilla to February 20. I really want to sing at home again! See you in February and long live the carnival,” Shakira said in a message posted on the social network X.
The announcement of the concert had sparked controversy because his Barranquilla fans regretted that the initial date, February 21, coincided with La Guacherna, a night parade in which the streets of Barranquilla are transformed into a “river of multicolored lights” and which precedes the Carnival of that Colombian city.
However, the change occurs just two days after the Colombian announced the dates of the Latin American leg of her ‘Women no longer cry world tour’.
The Barranquilla concert is special because it has not been performed there since 2018 when he participated in the opening ceremony of the Central American and Caribbean Games.
The performer, who last week released her new single, ‘Soltera’, will begin her journey through Latin America on February 11 2025 at the Nilton Santos stadium in Rio de Janeiro, to continue two days later at the Morumbis stadium in Sao Paulo, both in Brazil.
In Colombia, Shakira will also perform in Bogotá and MedellÃn.
The tour, produced by Live Nation, will run through March 19 and includes stops in Lima (Peru), Santiago (Chile), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and the Mexican Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City.
Shakira will begin her world tour on November 2 in the Californian city of Palm Desert, in the Coachella Valley, the starting point of a 28-date tour of North America, which will conclude on December 21 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
The performer will embark on this tour after publishing her twelfth studio album in March of this year, ‘Las mujeres ya no Llarn’, which in its first 24 hours of being released became the most played album of this year.
