The Undersecretary of Economy, Vidal Llerenas assured that the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC) will be reviewed, but not renegotiated.
Furthermore, he maintained that Mexico is the appropriate country for the relocation of Asian investments towards North America.
“Our advantage is location, but it is also this capacity that we already have to be able to do very complex, high-quality manufacturing and that, of course, we are the right country to be able to relocate investments from Asia to North America,” said Llenaras. .
“So, reality is going to prevail, regardless of what may be said out there, and the treaty will be reviewed, not renegotiated, and it will be a fundamental part of what will be the economic policy of this administration,” he said during his participation in the installation of the Senate Economy Commission.
Claudia Sheinbaum aims to create jobs
The undersecretary pointed out that the meeting held by the president Claudia Sheinbaum with directors of the main global companies in Mexico, the United States and Canada, “it was an important endorsement from the main global companies in the region for Mexico, so that the treaty is strengthened and so that there continues to be investment.”
