Tenoch Huerta is back on the public scene with Pedro Paramothe film by Rodrigo Prieto which was screened at the Morelia International Film Festival, where He spoke about his character and the spirit of Juan Rulfo’s work. Supported by the expressions of affection from the Michoacan public, The actor walked the red carpet amidst shouts for his presence.
“Happy to be here. I have a lot of family in Morelia, I feel supported, the band is very cool, I come here a lot, the people have always been very nice to me. I’m super happy. It feels very nice that the band is so affectionate, so loving, the net feels very cool about this warm reception,” commented Tenoch, prior to Pedro Páramo’s performance.
When asked: How do you leave this situation behind? (having been accused of abuse by his ex-partner María Elena Ríos), Tenoch said: “Well, like this, we move forward, walking.” Without reservations and willing to share his pleasure at being back in Morelia and at FICM, Tenoch walked the carpet with the intention of talking about his work in Pedro Páramo.
“It is considered one of the most important books in literature. Not only Spanish-speaking, but literature in general. And being part of this, of my favorite book, seems like a luxury to me,” Huerta commented, “Pedro Páramo’s story is a reflection of post-revolutionary Mexico, an archetype that captures the essence of Mexican identity.”
The actor emphasized how Juan Rulfo’s work reflects the cultural values that permeated Mexico and they are manifested in current music, such as the corridos and the corrido tumbado, “I would dare to think that every post-revolutionary cultural product is imbued with this, so, of course, this work is the genesis of much of what is Mexican.”
“It has to do with the corrido tumbado, it has to do with the corridos, it has to do with all Mexican music, regional Mexican music. The net, this little mother, is what we are and we have to look at ourselves in the mirror. ANDCinema is one of the arts that allows us to look at ourselves in a direct and evil way, I think this film is going to provoke that,” he said about Pedro Páramo.
Huerta reflected on the impact of art on personal healing, stating that “art is the medicine of the soul, there will always be healing.” through art both for the artist and for the one who sees it, as a certain very cool philosopher said that it is precisely through art that the human being manages to touch the sky when he participates in the artistic act.”
