the daughter of John Amoyesthe well-known leading actor of the series “Roots” (Raíces), has assured that he has found out about his father’s death through the media and that his death is full of “uncertainties”.

“We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened 45 days ago, finding out through the media like many of you,” Shannon Amos wrote in a caption of a post on her official Instagram account.

According to local media, Amos died in Los Angeles on August 21 at the age of 84 and his death was announced by his son KC on October 1, who did not confirm the causes of his death.

Shannon Amos added on Instagram: “This should be a time to honor and celebrate his life, but we are struggling to navigate the wave of emotions and uncertainties surrounding his passing. Still, there is some peace in knowing that my father is finally free.”.

The Hollywood Reporter (THR) unveiled in November 2023 that there were rifts among the sons of Amos as they fought among themselves for the care of their father and his legacy, with Shannon Amos publicly accusing his brother KC of elder abuse, a claim he denied.

According to the magazine, KC, who has been developing a documentary about his father titled America’s Dadclaimed that his sister had participated in a defamation crusade in hopes of making him appear, as he says, “unfit” to take care of the actor.

Amos’s acting work spanned five decades after beginning in 1970 playing Gordy Howard, the meteorologist on The Mary Tayler Moore Showa character that allowed him to demonstrate his natural talent for comedy.

It also led to him landing his signature role as James Evans on the groundbreaking sitcom “Good Times” (1974-76) on the CBS network, the media remember.
