The queen wanted to wear an original brooch to this event, which has captured the center of all attention. It is about of the comet brooch, a very significant piece which she has had since the time when she was a Princess and which she wore at the baptism of King Philip, on February 8, 1968. It is a flower in the core with a large cabochon sapphire and the tail with gold threads adorned with drops of diamonds and turquoise.

For decades, this spectacular piece was kept in her jewelry box, but it was in June 2023, when Doña Sofía showed it off at a public event. It was in the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan, eldest son of Kings Abdullah and Rania, and Rawja Alseif, which was attended by, in addition to Kings Juan Carlos and Sofía, other members of royalty such as the princes of Wales, William and Kate Middleton, William and Maxima of the Netherlands, Eugenia of York, Victoria and Daniel of Sweden or Frederick and Mary of Denmark, among others.

At the Jordanian royal wedding, Queen Sofia displayed an arsenal of jewels that we had not seen for a long time. In addition to the comet broocha, she chose a sapphire and diamond dressing from her personal jeweler. It was a diamond choker and earrings that complemented her spectacular Valentino dress, pink with rhinestones and ruffles.

That evening, for the reception offered by the bride and groom, the Queen changed her clothes and chose a vintage gray-blue lace dress that she combined with the most precious jewels from her personal collection. She dusted off her tiara, the whole sautoir from Niarchos, by Van Cleef et Arpels, a piece of Burmese cabochon rubies and diamonds that can be worn as a tiara. On that occasion, Queen Sofia She opted for the simplest version, a single-row headband. Before this occasion, the last time Doña Sofía wore a tiara was in June 2014, a few days before the proclamation of Felipe VI, when she chose the Fleur de Lis one.
