After going to the wedding of his niece, Princess Theodora of Greece, in Athens, Queen Sofia has returned to institutional life. Unstoppable at 85 years old, she will turn 86 on November 2, the King’s mother has presided over the commemorative event of the 19th anniversary of the creation of the Military Emergency Unit (UME), coinciding with the celebration of her patron saint who had place at the Torrejón de Ardoz air base (Madrid). The 15th anniversary has also been commemorated since Doña SofÃa presented the national flag, in its standard form. In this event, the Queen wore an original brooch in the shape of a kite, a tribute to her son who arrives more than five decades later.
Dressed in a sober dark suit with a jacket and pants, Mrs. SofÃa reviewed the troops, saluted the flag and followed the event from a platform with the rest of the authorities. In addition, a commemorative plaque has been inaugurated.

The queen wanted to wear an original brooch to this event, which has captured the center of all attention.
