The president of the National Chamber of the Housing Development and Promotion Industry (Canadevi), Luis Alberto Moreno, pointed out that to generate a construction company for the federal government’s new housing plan, more personnel will be needed, in addition to two years, so he announced that if approved, It will not be a short-term result.
Upon leaving the first ordinary session, of the current administration of the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit), Moreno highlighted that to build the million homes What President Claudia Sheinbaum promised, around 12 thousand people will be needed.
Likewise, he recalled that there is a shortage of labor, mainly in the north of the country.
Infonavit would provide the construction resources
In addition, he highlighted that the resource for the creation of said company would come from Infonavit itself.
However; He announced that the institute does have the resources to achieve it, but due to its structure they do not see that it can be done in the short term.
“We calculate, according to the figure of other companies, that an administrative structure of that size and to generate a new company for the number of homes that are intended will be needed between ten to 12 thousand people,” he said.
“Creating a company of this size costs a lot of work and time and there are many processes that have to be evaluated to generate this housing production; we estimate that it would take between 18 and 24 months,” he added.
He pointed out that all the details of the action plan must be made known so that Infonavit can build houses, in addition to “they have to state how many houses they want to build per year, because each one will need the appropriate permits and processes.” “.
“I don’t know the operating rules of how to do it, but if it is to create a company per se, I estimate that it cannot be created in less than 18 months,” he indicated.
He highlighted that from Canadevi, they will seek to support the carrying out of the best model that supports workers.
“The analysis is correct, it is not being built, there are 3.8 million people who are waiting for these homes, if around 60 thousand are generated a year it will take 80 years to produce the home, we need to accelerate construction and not just take out one million, but 2, 2.5 million homes in this six-year term,” he assured.
