The afternoon davidiana yesterday began with the exhibition of the editorial collection “Cuadernos del armadillo”, by Verónica Murguía (widow of the poet), Juan Pascoe and Guadalupe Alonsodirector of Casul.
“It was born by David, out of his pocket. He had much more emotionally invested than money. He wanted to publish poetry, he cared about supporting poets,” the writer Verónica Murguía explained to MILENIO.
In total, 25 titles were printed: booklets without sewn spines, shaped books (between 20 and 32 pages), even a New Year’s card, always with very short print runs (between 24 and 100 copies) with the exception of “Ayotzinapa “, of which 450 were made.
When David Huerta died (October 2022), Murguía y Pascoe, after printing the poet’s obituary as the penultimate issue, They decided to close the cycle of the “Armadillo Notebooks”. Today the complete collection can be seen for the first time in an exhibition.

Yesterday the number two of the October notebookwith the participation of the “society of friends of Huerta”: Jorge Comensal, Emiliano Álvarez, Emiliano Delgadillo, Sergio Raúl Arroyo and Carlos Ulises Mata.
“We loved him very much and we are certain of having been friends of a very great poet; There is a lot of unpublished material from Davidnews and a story called ‘The Ankle Bracelet’, a review, a conference and essays,” explained the writer Emiliano Álvarez.
Number two of this project includes reproductions of two portraits of the poet made by the artist Alberto Castro Leñero.
Besides, the unpublished book was presented Reasons not to found a religionpublished by the State of Mexico Editorial Fund. David Huerta worked on the compilation of his poetry for the label and it was delivered by Verónica Murguía after the poet’s death.
“They are unpublished poems from various periods that David had left almost ready and after some administrative changes, campaigns, The book was finally published and it is beautiful“said Verónica Murguía.
During the interview, the poet’s widow explained that David Huerta left poems all over his house: “In notebooks, on the back of receipts, on pieces of paper, everywhere and I have a lot of unpublished material and now we are digitizing everything he left so that it is not lost, because the convicted man wrote revolution on paper and it is falling apart, that is why it was “It is necessary to preserve it and we will see what we do later.”
Verónica Murguía pointed out that What he wants most is for David Huerta’s work to continue being read.: “That mattered a lot to him, that they read it. And also, he cared about public education and wanted boys to read poetry from everywhere, it was one of his greatest concerns.”
