The first week of October has left an alarming balance on Sinaloawhere the homicide record, Deprivations of liberty and vehicle thefts continue to increase.

Since the beginning of this month, The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has reported 24 intentional homicides, 18 cases of deprivation of liberty and 61 vehicle thefts, reflecting a level of violence that continues to plague the entity, after a September marked by 142 murders and 119 disappearances.

​Cases of violence in Sinaloa

On Sunday, October 6, the violence did not stop, with five additional fatalities, while various acts of aggression and intimidation added to the atmosphere of insecurity that the state is going through.. Some of this week’s notable incidents include:

  • Attack on restaurant in Los Huizaches, Culiacán: A sushi restaurant was set on fire and shot at by a group of armed men. Firefighters managed to control the fire. but the attack left the premises devastated and the community shocked.
  • Injured by gunshots: Two people entered a private hospital in Culiacán with gunshot wounds, another reminder of the constant danger citizens face.
  • Finding of bone remains in La Guásima: In a vacant lot of this community in Culiacán, human bone remains were located. Authorities began investigations to determine the identity of the victim and the circumstances of his death.
  • Multiple homicides: Murders have been recorded in different places, such as a man found dead in front of a shopping plaza in Mocorito, another on a dirt road in Salvador Alvarado, and two bodies with signs of violence in Aguaruto, Culiacán.
  • Kidnappings: Deprivations of liberty have also marked this week, with a report in the Eldorado Center Colony, where two subjects in a gray sedan kidnapped a person.

The figures from the State Attorney General’s Office reflect a bleak outlook for the entity, with clashes between criminal groups and an escalation of violence that continues to claim lives and affect entire communities.

The first week of October closes with fear that this streak of violence will continue, leaving Sinaloa in the national spotlight as one of the states most affected by organized crime.
