This is how artificial intelligence caught a thief at a self-checkout counter – Grupo Milenio

a woman that I bought in a store Walmart in the United States has gone viral after she decided to record herself while stealing some items from the self-checkout area at the store; However, the woman did not have that the store had cameras powered by artificial intelligence that detected it.

Despite having been discovered, the woman did not hesitate to upload her own video to the TikTok platform where she documented the exact moment in which Artificial Intelligence ‘caught’ her stealing from the supermarket.

The video of the embarrassing moment of the customer in the supermarket trying to steal some objects has gone viral on TikTok, since the user herself was the one who shared it with the following text:

“POV: When you normally don’t get caught and now you’re banned for 2 years from all the Walmarts in my area,” TikTokker Nesha wrote about the video, which has more than 2.2 million views.

The clip shows the woman scanning and bagging some items through the self-checkout system in a store Walmart and pretending to scan a backpack before putting it in your shopping bag without passing the barcode.

The computer screen soon lights up with a pop-up notification that says: “Associate is on the way”preventing you from scanning additional items or paying.

Then, a store worker arrives and scans a card at the self-collection machine, so the machine displays the following message: “Missing scan detected” which includes a recording of aerial video of the client dragging the backpack over the scanning area without scanning the code of bars.

Nesha, the user who tried to take items without payingabout his cell phone camera, to the employee who covers his mouth while laughing.

“Even though he laughed… he called the manager, the police and had us escorted out,” Nesha wrote in the caption alongside “#stealinggonewrong.”

About 15 percent of shoppers admitted to deliberately stealing one or a few items at checkout, and of those, only 33 percent were caught, according to a survey by 2023 LendingTree.
